Yes exactly, the battery pack method has been available for years, I had considered DIY solar, but to fit on the roof, forget it. And on the wall, simply not big enough to be worthwhile.Then get it hard wired and professionally installed. This was always an option before now anyway.
To my mind it needs to be large enough to work as a package, off-peak, battery and solar.
The plug and play solar is OK as an addition to existing, but as a stand alone, with no battery, and 800 watt limit, and no export, it is next to useless. At £300 for the kit, maybe, but at £700, simply not worth it. A battery pack would give a far better return.
