Police election - Independent vs party members.

IMO even if the independent looks rubbish, I will pick them over a party member, aint right.

I think the Idea is rather silly, most people don't care, and the choices are poor.

In my area I have 1 guy from lab/lib/con, what the feck do any of them know about running a police force?

1 black lady with no experience in anything (literally nothing but "volunteer" work on her CV), I'd bet money that if elected the only thing she would be good at would be victim hood poker and "positive" discrimination.

1 guy with experience as a judge, business, running various organisations, no party ties.




I'll give you one guess who will get the least votes.

It's cynical window dressing to give the impression that the government gives a stuff about law and order. If they did, they wouldn't be slashing police numbers, they'd find the cuts somewhere else.
Basically, members of the Tory government and their rich sponsors, in their exclusive apartment blocks with security entry systems, in their gated communities and under the protection of their private security guards, don't have to worry as much about crime as the rest of us; but given that they were elected partly on a crime reduction ticket they have to pay lip service to law and order policy; which is all this actually is.

Unless Donald Duck can raise the five grand deposit in time, I won't be voting.

So where should they cut to plug the 80 odd billion deficit (the other 20-40 billion is manageable debt long-term).

Welfare = Oh no then they don't care about the people

They're the professionals, not me, with all the advice they need at their fingertips. They should be able to save the money without putting the public in danger. I simply don't see the point of elected PCs.

As above. Nothing wrong with saving money from the police budget as long as it's primarily targeted at back office functions.

The Tories are the ones in government right now (I don't count the Libdems as anything but poodles), so the cap fits. Doesn't mean I don't recognise the mulitfarious culpabilities of the other parties.
