It just feels like we need to separate the general discussion from politics.
I can't help thinking you have raised this point at rather topical time.
It is exactly the same narrative that is being played out by Boris Johnson and the Tories -lets get Brexit off the front page.

I rather suspect Brexiteers don't want to hear, listen or discuss brexit anymore, for the simple reason that the electioneering is over and now the brexit reality starts which brexiteers will find rather uncomfortable as the reality of brexit is going to be far removed from the slogans.

Perhaps you would like to point out which threads you consider are 'fake news' or 'political advertising'.

And lets bear in mind, more Gasbanni threads show up in the GD 1st two pages than mine.

opinions will differ.

People will disagree about politics, religions, racial superiority, football teams and the best brand of boiler.

Perhaps it is the manner is which disagreement is expressed, rather than the subject, that needs to be limited.
