Seems to come up a tad short when the going gets tough...

"Duke of Edinburgh moved to different hospital to continue treatment for infection"

Moved from the pampering private sector to the NHS when that private sector doesn't have the facilities/wish to deal with serious illnesses/emergencies!

Private pampering hospitals are not primarily set up for serious illness/emergency cases are they? I don’t see a problem with him being moved. He kept an NHS bed free for others all the time he was in the private hospital didn’t he or are you saying he shouldn’t have gone private then?

Media are reporting he has been moved to a specialist hospital to treat an existing heart condition.......not the original infection.

I've always had private medical for the trivial things or to get a more detailed diagnosis. e.g. back injuries etc. For the serious stuff you can't beat the NHS. A lot of private clinics will let you flip/flop particularly if you don't have insurance. ie pay for a consultation and diagnosis and then go back to your GP to get treatment.

Private Medical saves the NHS millions

For serious issues, I always pay for a 30min private consultation rather than suffer a 10min session with my GP. All tests/scans are then via NHS.

A fools choice!

And what happens when that 'private medical' can't/won't pay out?

You'll want to turn to the NHS...

Or so you think...

Only that it won't be there that much longer!

I pay for private medical insurance for myself and my small team of employees (5 people). I pay the BIK so it’s free to them and comes off my profits.

Last time I checked, I didn’t get any discount on my NI bill for having funded this myself, but any time they use their private medical they are one less person on the NHS waiting list.

Costs about £350 per person per year, so I guess I pay slight less corporation tax if you want to split hairs that’s a tax payment I’m not making, but I fail to see your point.

Within this decade you will ALL need private healthcare, or suffer the consequences.

I can't see it being any more likely than say for instance the government phasing out unemployment benefits
