I have the kitchen mixer tap pictured below and have a problem with it leaking as you can see from picture from under the base and around the swivel only when either hot or cold tap is turned on, is this adjustable/repairable or is it doomed to the big tap heap in the sky

is there a little gromit screw on the back of the tap?
if there is loosen that off and the swan neck will lift off.
around the base of the tap is a groove with a washer in it, this is what needs replaced.

Great, I thought I would have to crawl under the unit and fiddle around there, but as you said one screw and its out. there are two large ring washers on the swan neck which need replacing, can you tell me where I would get them from

plumbcentre, plumbline, b+q, homebase. take the washers with you , to get the right size. :p

try and get the replacement first because it isn't always that simple to find a fit.

a short term fix if you can't get one is to gently remove the washer wrap a couple of turns of ptfe round the tap head shaft and put the washer back over the top and refit (don't put too much on though or the tap head won't go back on)
