Pumping Dog

put a lit tea light behind him and next time he lets rip he'll get a surprise that might stop him in future?

My now departed cat lived 17 years on Hill's Science Diet.

Good stuff and very good for the kidneys.

Another good tip for cats, if they are male, have them neutered. We had two cats 18 months ago, both have bu88ered off. Mind you I have 3 young boys, so if it wasn't for the fact I'm their father, I'd have probably bu**ered off as well.

Aww, AtoZ, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Is there nothing they can do for her? I know a girl that got radio and chemo therapy for her Rottie when he had cancer. It's so sad when their time is up.

i have looked into this but was advised that it would not work in this case.

apparently the cancer is an aggressive type .
thank you for your concern.

Sorry to hear that AtoZ, they are better creatures than humans IMO.

I had a dog, once.

ive fed my dog on iams dried since she was a puppy. she has always looked super fit on this food.

I don't think the dogs who had a Kidney removed by IAMs to test tolerance to protein levels looked too good though. This was only about 10 years ago but i haven't forgot.

due respect to you but i would be astonished if you thought that all companies dont test their products.
they'll do it directly or pay someone indirectly.

i understand your concerns but in some way i am reassured by the knowledge of this test.

i will have another dog and i will feed it the same way.
my dogs condition has gone from looking really fit to barrel like in no time at all.
that in itself is a valid test.

shame that testing cant be done a different way but if we're honest here, dogs are disposed of on the whim of an owner.
people let/make their dogs get fat then pay lots at the vet. thats not caring for the dog in my eyes, but each to their own.

Of course companies test their food products but the majority of them test humanely. IAMs received a lot of bad publicity for this and I'm sure they'd have been happy to deflect some of that publicity across the rest of the industry, they couldn't do it because they were one of the few offenders. Being caught like this is commercial suicide; I mean come on, we're not talking about testing life saving drugs here, and I feel sure that you must be in a minority of the British dog owning public who are happy in the knowledge that dogs are subject to cruel surgery to test nutritional value of food. If you're a smoker, maybe you'd also like Beagles to test your cigarettes?

please dont make me into something im not joe. i dont like that form of testing but i firmly believe that ALL the companies will test in this way, or, will buy those results.

for my work, i had to go into a cat food factory. (the stench was truly unbelievable)
part of the factory was where they stored the meat for the food.
these places were big, like an standard sized industrial unit. the meat was right up to the ceiling, it looked like a RED version of belsen.
it was cold but not frozen in there.
the meat of fish was moved from storage to the grinders by a wide bucket JCB( a metre of ballast size).

i was wondering how many cows sheep fish pigs chicken go to feed all the lovely little kittens and puppies we keep as pets.

i wonder who placed my dog, any dog, or cats; higher in the importance pecking order than all those animals that are not quite as furry or pretty.

i have actually been wondering if i should spend my £600 on a new schnauzer, or, if i should send that money, plus the insurance money, plus the money i spend on all those chopped up farm animals that feeds my pets; off to one of the child sponsoring charities.

im not a hypocrite joe, i do think about these things.
i love my dog but i dont close my eyes as to what it actually takes to have it in my house.
all pet food companies test! in this litigious era; they would be mad not too.

i can see you care about this issue joe, i do too. i just happen to think that we care about fashionable causes and close our eyes to others.

btw
my fat barrel is still bombing around the fields, still happy and not suffering :)
