Hi,

I recently bought a new basin waste unit as my last one was leaking and old.

I fitted the new one it and it leaked so I bought a basin mate after reading about them on here. However I'm trying to fit it on my own, and I'm having trouble trying to get it in position.

I've tried smearing the basin mate with washing up liquid to help it slide on over the waste unit, I can get it quite far in the whole, and when I put the nut on below it I think I'm getting it tight (tightening it by hand) but there isn't enough thread left to securely fit the trap below it.

Can anybody offer some tips? Should I get a second pair of hands to push the basin waste unit down as I am pushing the basin mate up into position?

Thanks in advance
Jay

Maybe there is just not enough thread length?

You might try cutting the basin mate so it's thinner?
