I have a small hallway so I went for real wood floor opposed to laminate, I chose this floor and hope someone can answer a couple of questions.

The flooring I got is this

https://www.wickes.co.uk/Style-Garden-Light-Oak-Solid-Wood-Flooring---1-5m2-Pack/p/184314#

When we removed the old floor we had to get the floor screeded as it was rising up in the middle where a wall once was.

Firstly I have read through the data sheet in the link and it talks about if glueing then ensure the screed is rough, is there a tool I should use for this?

Secondly I’ve watched a video (done by wickes) for the floor and they spread an adhesive down and lay the floor onto this, I initially thought this would be a floating floor glued together but I’m clearly wrong.

is there an adhesive you would recommend I should use?

thanks

I think that foating the floor seems to be frowned upon by the pros. But for what it's worth, I have 50sqm of 18mm oak floated on top of the original floated weyroc floor. I did mine in 3 bits, the oldest has been down for about 15 years with no problems. (So far!) I'd defo do a small space floated.

That’s fine , no other glueing required , but you need to master the technique of keeping the polythene sheet in place while laying the flooring before peeling back to expose the glue or you get in a right pickle .

Think I might have buggered it up, left the flooring in the room for 5 days before laying it, left expansion gap all round (10mm) and used a flooring strap to pull it all tight.

Everything looked fine and then today when I got home the middle has lifted slightly, the room has just been painted and I’m not sure if this could have created any extra moisture?

I laid it Sunday, Monday & Tuesday I had a decorator in there and I didn’t notice the issue until this evening - does it take a couple of days to settle?

thanks

Did you under cut the doorstops and door liner, if not maybe not enough expansion there

Yes I used a multi tool to cut the door stop and door liner.

It seems to have settled down a bit now but at it settled it’s moved / expanded which I guess it would do as it’s wood!

is there anything I could try to do to resolve this piece of flooring - see picture 1

Thanks

looks like the gap has opened and a bit off black crud has fallen in ??

Basically yes, there’s nothing I can do about the gap opening up I guess it’s just bloody annoying as your eye is drawn to it
