Hi,

Please see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/george.wanley/homepage.html

I need to remove the tap to investigate why water now only trickles out.....I haven't had anything to do with plastic pipe, how can I remove the tap (and plastic pipe) at the elbow please ? I have already tried pulling & twisting....the tap has no service valve fitted on the pipe work so I need to know what to do without being left not able to turn the mains back on.

Cheers

The plastic elbow looks like the type that can't be undone. You could undo the compression joint at the bottom of the tap, although the fault is probably in the tap, most likely the double check valve having been damaged by freezing (what a stupid design).

If you decide to upgrade the whole thing, a double check valve should be fitted internally where it can't be damaged by freezing. A new hose union tap without check valves can be fitted externally. Also fit an isolating valve on the internal pipework.

A chap up my way is banging these in for 32 extorsion complete with tap
