Replace joist hangers

noseall said:
you could always skew nail the joist into the bearer with some galvanized 4" nails.
i know the screw and stainless steel police will frown...............stuff em.
believe me, a couple of nails skewed into each side of the joist would hold up tons........for years.

I would agree with that solution, simplest by far.

The nails where the joist butts up to the trimmer will hold the joist up, but do as stated and either put a couple of nails in the side of the joist or screws.

All you have to is wrap another jiffy hanger around the joist and fix, static has already shown what they look like in a earlier post :)

thanks for everyones advise, I will let you know how I gwt on in a weeks time as I'm away on holiday at the moment.

wrapping another jiffy around the joist will involve removing a part of the ceiling.
this idea would be ok if the underside of the joist is exposed?
