hi,
that's my plan anyway. the chipboard flooring upstairs (all bedrooms and landing) is squeaky and uneven from where it has been cut when we had central heating installed.
the squeaking/creaking i can fix, i've see those useful threads here, but i thought why not take this opportunity to get rid of the chipboard altogether and lay some floorboards?
i'm guessing it's going to be more expensive than laying new chipboard. my questions are:
1) is cheap floorbards rather than same price on chipboard a false economy? am i better off just getting good quality chipboard?
2) is it even a good idea? this is the first house i have lived in with chipboard flooring and the noise they make, especially after they were messed about with during heating installation drives me mad. sounds like an elephant walking around upstairs when its only the cat.
3) any general hints and tips from those more wise than me on these things....i.e. everyone.
thanks!
