hi guys as youve all had more experience than me at this could you tell me the easy way (if there is one )of replacing the rubber diaphram in the diverter valve on a vaillant vuwgb282e combi boiler , i did replace this 2 years ago as its on my friends boiler and it was a right pain ,i had to remove the complete valve from the boiler but was just wondering if i had to do this

Yes it just comes off the bottom of the boiler 3 pipes, one of the easier ones :)

hi i cant picture the valve at the mo but do you mean remove the whole valve again i.e disconnecting it from the heat exchangers etc

sorry thinking of a vcw, you are thinking of a turbomax i think.

I only ever did one diaphragm on these but i don't remember it being too bad, have a feeling it has some sort of white lever on it which makes the microswitch and sometimes pushes the microswitch upwards hence no contact. Worth checking.

yes cheers ,ive did already check the micro switches and both was fine , the problem he has is no hot water but fine ch ,i asked him it the water is warm then goes cold and he said it does so i recon the diaphram gone again last time this happened to him there was a tiny split in it

If the diaphragm is failed then the white lever will not operate the microswitch.

If the microswitch is operating the the fault is something else.

We only normally replace the whole diverter valve as commercially we cannot risk another part of the assembly failing after changing just the diaphragm.
