The wires to my fridge and freezer have become damaged (copper exposed) and need replacing, but when I had a look at the wires, I found that they are attached to the appliances with special plugs - it looks like I need some tool to attach these.

I've attached a picture of the plugs.

Is it possible to attach these plugs myself, in order to replace the wires myself?

Many thanks in advance,
S

They are just spade crimps - you'll also need a crimping tool to put them on with (preferably a ratchet one).

If you take one of the old crimps to somewhere like maplins I expect they'd be able to sell you the right size spade crimp and a crimping tool, if not the RS trade counter in bow will have them.

You guys are just fantastic, thanks a lot for your replies, I'll try to get hold of a crimper etc. and if that fails, the flex connectors!! Excellent!

Thanks a million for your help.

If you buy the cables and crimps from Russ Andrews your food will taste better, with greater depth of flavour and more subtly balanced nuances of seasoning.
