People that wrote these bag of shiitte regulations must be piissing their pants with laughing knowing that it would cause all these sorts of arguments.
Apparantly I can do gas work without being registered as long as I dont get paid, now if I do work for a prostitute and she gives me a blow job, is that classed as payment or just a tip, if I suffered premature ejaculation would I class that as a discount and get another blowjob a bit later or maybe at the next service interval, I really would like some of these regs cleared up, I wouldn't want to be accused of screwing the customer.

That's absolutely true Kev but if a Corgi registered gas engineer does a job incompetently then he will be taken to court just the same as a non-registered one will. Bripl says 'corgi=competent' but that's not strictly true. Corgi registered means 'qualified' to earn money for doing gas work for money in other people's homes. By being Corgi registered the training and experience you've got to get registered means you should be competent, but you're as competent as your last job. Have a read here This guy didn't do the job right and someone died, but despite being Corgi registered he was incompetent and so broke the law.
I know this is a gripe with you Corgi guys but what you should do is get together and have a go at Corgi to campaign the government to change the way the gas regs are written. They currently do not stop diy gas fitting and even the Corgi site says this:

Only a competent person can carry out work on gas appliances or fittings. Do-it-yourself work on gas appliances or fittings could be dangerous and is likely to be illegal.

Diy gas work is only illegal if it is done incompetently the same as it is illegal if a Corgi guy does a job incompetently.

That is a payment in kind Ped, and if you go to the the Inland Revenue site you will see that a blow job is worth £20 so, as you are on the 40% tax band, it means you must declare that and pay the IR £8. It also means that you should be Corgi registered so don't let your membership lapse.

shaggy corgi registered does not mean you are qualified it means you are a class of person competant to work in the fields of gas acs assessments are the qualifications req for entry to the corgi register before your tech interview.many entrants to the gas industry have no idea on fault finding or design or installation so how can people be classed as competant when they do not know the basics.this discussion could run for ages see diy gas disasters on screwfix the bottom line is for the law to be changed to ban the sale of gas appliances/fittings to the unregistered before someone else is injured/killed this is apersonal opinion and until that happens people will use self cutting wm valves/hosepipe/hep/cutdown tap cons/etc on gas pipework.while i do not agree with the current setup i do believe the gas industry needs a better voice to be heard instead of money making,robbing gits that has control at the moment
