I have a terrible noise coming from the circulation pump on my central heating. I have bought a replacement one which I intend to fit. Having never done any plumbing like this before, I thought I'd ask for any tips before I start?

you should have gate valves at either end of the pump so you don't have to drain the whole system.

obvious that it is, turn the electricty supply off to the whole system. after fitting new pump it may need bleeding, do it the same as a radiator, but you see that big screw in the middle, that is the bleed valve, one more thing make sure you turn BOTH the valves back on

And make sure you fit it the right way round ( there is an arrow )
I fitted a pump in a combi once and i fitted it the wrong way round. This places the thermostat in the return pipe instead of the flow. Heating got VERY hot.
