It clearly isn't (or at least wasn't when he said it was), so what TF is he playing at?

Probably overreach and hubris. He may have got a bit carried away by the success of the Venezuela operation and thought that other regimes would now just automatically bow down to him. It's a new world where Trump is trying to project power but without the use of boots on the ground. He may find that this sort of 'decapitation' strategy has its limits. Too early to tell.

There is no genocide and I wholeheartedly support the right of the Israelis to defend themselves and their people, you know my position on this.

Ideally not, definitely not unless they were forced to undergo some sort of de-radicalisation programme. Especially given that certain Arab countries refuse to fund their students to come to the UK for fear of them becoming radicalised by the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood.
