Rewire.

I'm fairly confident you can still buy the harmonised equivalent, mostly likely Oop North, where they seem to go ape for it.
Well, depending where you classify the Norf/Sarf divide I am usually considered Norf and I have not seen it for yonks but had seen quite a bit before that, I suppose the elder artisans with all singles and N to Rose and L to switch then switch to rose it was second nature to them until the loop in loopout and T & E became king, the S & E or S without E was often used only on the few two way switches, one way switches were all T & E (Feed and Return so to speak).

Why any confusion?View attachment 397355

White arrow shows air gap twix 2 cables
Green top shows end of sleeving
Green botton shows 2 copper wires
Red arrow shows 2 red wires

My instant reaction 8 hours ago was 2x single red&E
must admit I had to look twice, perhaps my old eyes though. if I saw it in real life it would be more obvious- note looking on mee laptop, on an iphone not as easy either

Singles in a sheath wiring must have been popular in Birmingham years ago, you come across it a lot, but I've never seen it done in new colours.

Yes, you're very clever!

However, 'immediate first impressions' are just that, and mine differed from yours.

Once upon a time you could get single (Black) and E too, I have never used singles sheathed for years.
Single and E has often costed more than T & E (perhaps costs more because far less quantity of production runs?) so lots just used bog standard T & E and snipped the unused conductor off at each end!
You can still get it easily, although now in harmonised colours obviously.

You'll get it off-the-shelf in Ireland. Widely (in fact universally) stocked here.
That's presumably at least partially because some of the practices that remove/reduce the need for it are seemingly not allowed in Ireland?

However, if one is interested in such things, using single+earth cables must considerably increase the (electrically 'unnecessary') usage of copper by the consequential multiple CPCs.

As someone noted it looks different on different devices, I've just looked on my phone and Had to enlarge it to its extremety to see te slither of green and by then starting to pixelate.

Sorry for the confusion, I would post a better pic but it's gone now :)

I installed an AFIL a few months back, I had planned to use 1.5mm² single white 7X. but the a******e site manager insisted it had to be sheathed and have an earth wire.

As its not available in white I used grey sheathed blue S&E on the white painted walls much to his annoyance.

It wouldn't explain universal availability within the Six Counties though.

I suspect that thinking and practices in the "Six Counties" is very much influenced by what goes on in the non-UK parts of the island, not the least because of "cross-border working".

LS0H single and earth is available from City's. Has a white sheath.

Wouldn't want to pay their prices though...

Apparently, in Britain, you can buy it from amazon and one or two others but mainstream it appears not- you can buy Brown & E and Blue & E but it costs more so why buy it?
