So a ring with a spur of a twin socket connected at the fuseway is OK on a 30A/32A device with 2.5 T & E but if you remove the ring and just leave that one twin socket connected it somehow becomes unsafe/non compliant ?
If you look from the regs POV, as the plugtop fuse is providing the overcurrent protection and the MCB providing fault current protection then this setup complies
IMO, just not best practice.
Another cause of heat damage to the live pin socket is a loose fitting fuse in the plug. This heats up the pin and the socket. The plug fails and is replaced but the damage done by heat to the spring in the socket means the new plug makes poor contact with the socket. So the new plug remains OK but the socket fails.
