53 plate Golf Tdi, 52k miles, one (careless) owner.
All of the steel brake pipes to the rear dangerously shot.....touched one today and started a leaker.
Both disc back plates (rear) completely crumbled away - nowt left at all
One rear caliper piston completely seized (dust cover intact).
Not what I expected to see!
All slices of bread an' butter :p

How did it get in that state in just a year from it's last ticket? :D

My 17 year old nearly 300,000 mile Citroen was beginning to do the same :D

lives near the sea, parks it on the beach?

salt spray travels a long way and is very corrosive.

This car has spent all of its life on a farm, which I guess isn't the very best of environments, but I was surprised to see how far the corrosion had gone.....
No matter, its back with the owner who's nearly 300 quid lighter.
With this particular brake pipe, its clipped to the top of the trailing arm, fairly difficult to see with the wheel on. Its a combination of flexible turning to steel so it comes ready formed - a perfect fit.
