Sabre (Vokera) 25HE No Hot Water nor Central Heating working

I got it fired up AGAIN by fiddling with the speed of the pump as the tap is running. (C/h switched off).

Once it fires up, it works non stop as long as the hot water tap is on.

When you turn the tap off, it may not work next time you demand hot water.

It is too much of a coincidence that it starts while I am fiddling with pump speed. I wonder if this is sign of something!

It sounds to me as if there may be a system flow switch and this is not operating reliably.

So much for all those sensor changes! As Danny said dont rush into changing parts!

Look at the boiler manual- it tells you how the boiler works. To diagnose faults, first thing you will need is a multimeter. Use the flowchart- it is good- and in most cases leads you to a fault. In majority of cases you do not need specialised test gear (what specialised test gear I ask myself)

For hot water malfunctions, go to page 32 and work your way through the flowchart.

If you get stuck, post here

Thanks BB, GG, Agile, DP.

I will try to follow the flow chart on my user manual.

Also,
I am not too sure if all the parts will be same but we have another one of these boilers in the family, it is Sabre 29 HE.

I can swap parts for testing purpose if any of you strongly suspect specific component. I know I have to bleed rads again but hey it is almost summer now.

Sabre HE25 was working but cutting out now and then and red light coming on. I used to reset it, it then worked again. It went like this for few months.

Recently, after I came back from holiday the other day, it stopped firing up all together.

Pump runs, no red light comes on, infact green light is on as everything is OK, BUT there was no hot water or heating at all.

I booked it for repair with VOKERA, 182 pounds all in service.

The fault was BLOCKED AIR VENTURI pipe, at the top of the boiler, where the fan is. There was small deposit build up inside. It is a simple cleaning job, or if you want to change the part it would not be expensive.

What engineer told me red light could be many things, not just NTC sensors.

I am sure this info will help many Sabre Vokera users as well as non vokera sabre specialists who might come a cross with similar fault.

Its not likely to help me.

When I visit a boiler I start my checks at the beginning!

It is a very late update, I am so sorry. But after the vent pipes cleaned, its packed up again, engineer re-visited (free of charge) and this time he has changed the ignation BOARD. Thank you for the member, who has been saying this from the beginning.

It has been OK since.

BUT

Today, 12 May 2012, water started leaking from the combi. It looks like its coming from the heat exchanger. Top of the heat exchanger looks green and when I removed the inner front cover of the combi, heat stop pads are soaking wet.

Where is the water coming from? From Heat exchanger?, expansion vessel? where else?

Now this boiler is about 6 years old. Is it worth repairing or should I go for new one?

If so, which one Vaillant, Bosch/worchester ???

Any help, advice appreciated.

Tom

Well if you want to use the boiler again you should not be opening the combustion chamber unless you have already decided its scrap.

I do have to say leaking heat exchangers seem quite common on Vokeras. They are not necessarily that expensive to buy, perhaps £150 on a Band B boiler and that makes a repair worthwhile. But they should be replaced by an RGI.

Hi, wonder if u would be so kind to give me some advice, I noticed your posts about sabre he25 ignition boards, I'm having the same problem as the guy you helped a little while ago,

Is the ignition board different to the PCB? If so would be able to point it out to me ? I'd be very grateful for your time and advice.

Thanks in advance
