Has anyone noticed how some popular sayings have become distorted and the new 'wrong' word becomes the norm ?

For example, say you offer someone a slice of cake, 90% will say 'I'll
just have a slither ' (instead of a 'sliver')

Or 'I did if off my own back' (instead of 'my own bat')

And people sing 'My old man said follow the band' (instead of 'the van')

Any more good ones ?

Saying "should of" instead of "should have"?
.....that`s because the apostrophes have migrated..........should`ve could`ve would`ve ..........all gone to cock`s

Corgiman - your Dad knew exactly what he was talking about.... A very sensible old boy, show some respect...... ;)

Yup. Oop north, (well, round here anyway!) some say "bockle" for bottle

and "keckle" for kettle etc...
