Scottish independence

They don't have to get the Euro (and might not qualify) but would have to meet and follow strict controls

No, as a new member of the EU, Scotland would be required to take the Euro. This is one of the core requirements for new EU members and they have no choice in the matter. The same goes for Schengen.....

Now, the only way out is that the EU ignores their own rules and laws. There is obviously significant precedent for this, so Scotland could promise to use the Euro, and simply not bother.

Who cares what Scotland want or do anyway ?
It is just one of our many 'outposts' which we subsidise . I say- give it to them- Lochs and all and let them lay in their own bed and enjoy it.

Also, any other EU state could veto their membership, so who knows Scottish oil and fisheries might end up being traded away.....

Funny, that...

I think it was the SNP deputy leader on R5L the other day, when Osborne was spouting about Scotland being able to keep the pound.

"Its our pound too", was his position. Yet it was also "our oil", when the revenues were mentioned.

Cake and eat it sprang to mind.....
