Second vote?

The original referendum was badly designed. It never defined what leave was and it should have required a super majority of something like 60% plus as a true reflection of people's desires.

Having a referendum that splits the county helps no one especially the self serving tory ****s pulling the tory party apart. Had high hopes for Cameron but I'm done with the torys after voting for them twice.
60% plus to leave?? But only 40% to stay in EU,,what sort of cok eyed democracy would that be?

Bit slow dumb plumb. 60% majority for a referendum decision either for remain or leave.

Hilary polled 3 million more than Trump but still lost.

We need electoral reform so no more fptp where a minority can rule.

Sadly British politics is at an all time low. The Tory party are just appalling -is there even 1 decent cabinet minister? The Labour party have been a pretty poor opposition as well -they havent held the Tories to account.

We all know the referendum was ill thought out because the presumption was that there would be a remain majority -I expected it to be around 65%.

People who should be natural tory voters ie under 35 in well paid jobs have been turned off from their pursuit of the older vote and anti EU stance. This is my own reflections from people I know and work with. I can't say if they will vote Labour but they won't be voting Tory.

Decades of blaming the EU for the government's own problems has led to this. It was a convenient excuse.

Now neither party has a true majority of over 50% of the electorate, so we will swing from right wing to left wing parties. We need wider representation and more than 2 parties and policies thar reflect the wider populace and not just the lobbyists who work both parties.

Mmp in new Zealand is a better system.

Imagine a country where the majority always end up with a government that they didn't vote for....

I agree, sadly FPTP always votes in parties that benefit that system, so no reason for change.

Politics in this country seems to be a deep rooted ideology of either Left wing socialism or Right wing Capitalism -which isnt really true, all economies are really mixed economies in practice. So in practical terms mainstream day to day politics is around the centre ground, but the extremes get all of the headlines.

Mmp in new Zealand is a better system.
Thanks -Ill have a look at that

Turns out is so low too,,back to the heroes on here who think they are being clever, not voting.

So there are some slight murmurs about a second referendum from the conservative camp now....

I guess that will increase if it looks like the numbers aren't adding up for the BRINO deal to get voted through.

The official line is vote for the deal to prevent a 'no deal' -which has never been a real option anyway.

We might see the talk switch to vote for the deal or there would have to be a 2nd referendum.

There was a recent phone-in on 5Live where people were asked about how they would describe May.

Most were derogatory, but I think she may well be playing a blinder...

How to get a 2nd referendum whilst ruling one out?

After all the majority of MP's support remain, so at some point they may well assert what the quitters wanted - parliamentary 'democracy'!

Will enough Remainers get out and vote 2nd time around, or will they leave it to someone else again?

After the fiasco caused by the 'first' referendum, does anyone really think they would risk the same again?

Let's have a referendum on abolishing tax to find out and implement the 'will of the people'.

Boaty McBoatface.
