Looks like it is inevitable, but this is not a good time to tip even more instability into the mix. Nothing unexpected, we knew all this before, even the Leavers knew it.

"Scotland's first minister has said a second independence referendum is "highly likely" after the UK voted to leave the EU.

Nicola Sturgeon
said it was "democratically unacceptable" that Scotland faced the prospect of being taken out of the EU against its will.

She said the Scottish government would begin preparing legislation to enable another independence vote.

Scotland voted in favour of the UK staying in the EU by 62% to 38%."

The suggestion that Scotland could prevent the UK leaving the EU is, I think, fanciful and unconvincing.

As Boris used to say, nobody gains from a long period of uncertainty and turmoil, so best to get it over with.

In some quarters this is found risible.

If a newly independent Scotland remain IN when the UK has left then the jungle at Calais could relocate to Gretna Green. UK could rebuild the Antonine Wall ( a bit further north than Hadrian's Wall ) and have border controls.

like the border controls that will be needed between NI and the Republic of Ireland, you mean.

I don't understand how these migrants, who seem stumped by the channel, are suddenly going to be able to appear in (Eire or) Scotland so they can walk to England.

apart from the fact she will have to ask permission to have said referendum. personally I'd be very glad to see them go.

During indyfef [1] the Scots were told

A/. No use of the £ ?
B/. You will need to apply to the EU for some sort of membership?

In obtaining the result required by Westminster, they found out that during Indyref [1] if they [the Westminster Parliament] spread gloom doom and large volumes of despondency among the voting masses then the result would go the way Westminster wanted.

Happy days all round, it was a result in Indyref [1] for Westminster.

So, given 2/. above??? why should the will of the Scots not be listened to??? Trouble is that a section of a sovereign country cannot be admitted, it is all or nothing

Everything has [and is changing] new Westminster PM?? Probable new Westminster Labour leader??? absolutely NO UKIP presence in Scotland [looked upon as an oddity and a very English phenomenon, no Local Councilors any where, no presence in the Scottish parliament, no UKIP sent to Westminster up here UKIP is a busted flush what does that say?

Indyref [2] is inevitable, why because the base premise has altered completly

All those in the remain camp can than relocate to Scotland & all those in the brexit camp in Scotland can relocate to England

sorted :)
