At some point I will need to rewire/replumb my house and wanted to know if hiding all this under floor boards and inside walls is absolutely necessary. House is a typical 3 bed with bathroom upstairs built in the 60s.

Idea is that I can easily maintain and add to wiring and plumbing without having to make good afterwards.

Is this against regulations? If not, has anyone got any advice and examples I can draw inspiration from. I know trunking and conduits are “ugly” but I’m sure there’s ways to minimize that impact if done right.

There are plenty of more ascetically pleasing containment for both pipe and cable.
Some people even like the look of exposed copper tubes and piro installed cables

No, not necessary at all, as long as the cables and pipes aren't at risk of damage.

Indeed.

In fact, it will also save you having to do any decorating anywhere, ever. Having pipes and cables running over the walls will look like unmitigated sh*te, so no point in wasting time and money on painting, papering etc.

Well I used trunking and conduits in a general sense... I guess containment was the right word.

I've seen some examples of exposed pipe work but I would still prefer them to be hidden (not buried). Do you have any suggestions?

With regard to the 'out of context' picture, I see he hasn't quite mastered the idea of bookshelves either.

needed about another meter of flex as well by the looks of it, clipped to the skirt would have been a whole lot tidier.
