From the mouth of the powers that be

You cannot fit a cooker or hob in flats or appartments without ffds, if you come to a flat or appartment that has one already fitted its ncs

Whats the big debate about, just follow the rules and you haven't got a problem.

Too many people want to fight all the time, just get on with it

I can explain although some on the posters above have not done it so well!

Firstly its not "illegal" and no PC is going to arrest anyone who fitted one.

A non registered or DIYer can fit one as they are not required to comply with regulations.

An RGI is not permitted by the regulations to fit one and hs would presumably be given a "stern warning" by gas safe if he was found out.

Two hours later the gas safe man would only class it as NCS because thats all it is.

It cannot suddenly become AR or ID in a sane world because for the last 100 years its never been required. So all it can be is not compliant with current regs or NCS.

No one has asked the question but logically its also NCS if it was fitted 10 years ago before that regulation came into force. I dont think many are classing it as NCS though. In any case there are still many RGIs who dont even know about the requirement.

Thanks for that Darren!

I am amused to see that it says that if a CORGI member fit a non compliant type "he will be defected" to fit a correct one!

Doing that could be expensive if he has to pay for a replacement and take away the old ( almost new ) one.
