Should there be a general election when Starmer gets booted?

Labour in opposition called for GEs a few times

Why would Labour give away power, when the Torys wouldn't have an election on more than one occasion.

Unfortunately the government cannot be kicked out until end of mandate, regardless of what they do.
That's why the confidently feck everything up and line their pockets.
The king could kick them out, but no modern monarch has balls.

I have never been a fan of calling for general elections when leaders change. That is not how our system works. I suppose if there are massive changes of policy, that might be different.
By that argument they should have called an election the day after the last election, the day they threw the manifesto in the shredder and got the secret one out.

Labour won’t call an election when they stand to get wiped out. Starmer remains pm because of this. We had the same problem with gordon brown. They will just cling on until the end.

In another year the Labour MPs will be thinking about their jobs and wanting to give the new leader a chance to win.

Streeting will be competing against Rayner. Probably the two most work shy MPs in the country.

Seems to be a view growing in popularity i.e. they'll wait until May, then do all they can to get him out.
That’s assuming re form will sweep the board at the locals, and he will be forced out. It’s down to the party at the end of the day. Kicking him out in May is like turkeys voting FB or Christmas to be celebrated three years early.

That was true for the good, team-playing leader that Major was.

Starmer is an insecure nutter, who surrounds himself with heavies and picked his team specifically because they're stupid and obedient so won't answer back. He needs to be surrounded by people who agree with him at all costs, he can't cope with anything else.

He’s hanging on and fighting because the alternative for the country is far worse. He’ll either call a GE if he does badly in May or gather 80 MPs to back him in a leadership battle.
