Hi,
I've done the odd bit of pluming in the past, many moons ago and having just moved into a new home decided to change a couple of items in the bathroom. I purchased a tower shower and new sink and tap, all was well until I opened the both the shower and tap to find they both have flexible hose pipe connections with a female screw end with a washer. They look as if they should screw on to something. As this is not the normal olive compression fitting I'm used too and as I'm connecting directly to copper pipes (15 & 22mm) I'm a little confused. Anyone else bumped into this?

Regards

Very droll doitall,
Don't think the tower shower would screw to the tap very well do you? :D Do I really have to point out that these have only one end to connect to the pipes? The shower Tower is single ended and the tap is a monoblock with small male connectors at the tap end.

Hi, Would that be Karate caress...tremble....Try fitting a (downtrodden) Male Iron to Copper connector into threaded part...compression fitting, not soldered. PS A Sink goes in the Kitchen( where you should be) and a Basin goes in the Bathroom. :?

Think I get what your trying to say, does it screw onto a service valve

NigeF,
thanks for the info, albeit of the sarcastic nature. Re-Sink/Basin, if you are going to be pedantic, you are incorrect, the Oxford English describes the verb sink (amongst other things) as :-

"A water basin fixed to a wall or floor and having a drainpipe and generally a piped supply of water".

So my description applies. So while I go back to the kitchen you can go back to school ;-)

Doitall,
thanks for the more helpful answer ;-) I wouldn't have said so, both seem to suggest that they hook directly to the pipes (hence me expecting to find an compression fitting) however as both look more like a standard washing machine connection, then the answer would a yes.

A quick scan through some of the more common DIY sheds to find something similar suggests they are most likely 1/2 inch BSP female connectors.

Can't seem to find an appropriate male to mate them with (so to speak) that would just fit nicely to my 15&22. So this leads me back to the question.....how the hell should I connect them?

Caress, talking about going back to school, you say
the Oxford English describes the verb sink (amongst other things) as :-

"A water basin fixed to a wall or floor and having a drainpipe and generally a piped supply of water".

In fact the definition you quote is for the noun, not the verb.

Caress can you post a pic so we can see what you're talking about.
