I've got to fit a pump for my shower unit in the bathroom, the pump has to be sited in the loft and the only electrical connection I can make without turning it into a large job is via the switch for the extractor fan. Is this a viable option?

it's the pipework that dictates it goes in the loft.
The pump should have it's own water supplies ie, cold directly from a separate supply from cold water storage tank in the loft.
Hot via a surrey flange direct from the cylinder. This is the correct method of installation so that if another outlet(tap) is opened elsewhere in the house, the shower will not be affected. The pump will also be liable to freezing if fitted in the loft. The ideal places are in the airing cupboard next to the cylinder or behind the bath panel. The pump should not be wired into the lighting circuit (Fan) and needs to be properly earthed and cross bonded if copper pipes are used.

They used to hav a "clip" of Anna Raeburn saying that on LBC

people would even phone up and ask for it
