So come on, pick Boris's successor.

None of the candidates has mentioned stopping immigration. If one of them mentioned stopping all immigration, he or she would have a landslide victory, because immigration is the number one problem facing the country, and the issue that most ordinary people are talking about.

BUT, you won't hear anything in the media about the negative effects immigration is having. Therefore any candidate promising to stop all immigration as well as promising to end the ban on media discussion of the negative effects of immigration will be in sympathy with the majority of the population.

Sadly, there aren't any such candidates. They are all the same, none of them are conservatives. To quote Peter Hitchens, in his column of today: If you ask me who is my favourite among the candidates, I will ask you in return: ‘What is your favourite disease?’

Maybe because immigration has a positive effect?

I also don't hear the media going on about 'plucky brits' queueing up to do the jobs that are now vacant due to EU immigrants not being around...

Can you point out any such articles?

They are being paid not to! The positive effect you refer to (i.e. they come here and do jobs we won't) is an illusion, because it is by government stupidity that some Britons won't do those jobs. Your positive effect can best be described as partially recovering a loss.

The attacks on the "lightweights" Mordaunt and Tugendhat suggests the Tory top brass fear the wrong person being elected leader. So will it be between Sunak and Truss?

Blup

Do explain your theory about that 'government stupidity'...

I already have, several times; but that's not the rabbit hole I want to go down. The point I want discussed is that most of Britain is anti-mass immigration but nobody is representing us in politics or the media. Not one of the tory leadership candidates has mentioned immigration, and the new leader will be picked by only a small number of people.

I tell you what I haven’t heard in the media. 'Honest Brits' virtue signalling that they are applying to take Ukranian refugees into their home and then going all quiet about it. Of course I’m excluding media in this forum where I have heard that. From you.
