starting business??

hi guys,

im toiling to find a website explaining how to go self employed. i was under the empression u can get grants and such things. I doing pretty well doing homers but would like to start advertising and open accounts with whole salers.

Any pointer would be great

As well as registering Self employed be sure to register under CIS that way you only get stung for 20% tax if you sub to anyone instead of 30% or so.

The first thing you must do is get insurance even if you are only doing hobbles.

Check your local phone book or for Business Link - this organisation is there specifically to help small businesses and self-employed set up and keep going. They can point you to grants, and they run courses on the essentials such as book keeping, tax and NI, marketing. Lot of it is free or very cheap, and it's a good place to start networking with orther small businesses and startups.
