Unfortunately, being really stupid isn't much of a defence. The fact there were riots going on is definitely an aggravating factor. But 4 years is a long sentence, with a guilty plea

People are getting quite long sentences for posting hate speech.

I must admit, I hadn't previously thought about the sexism angle.

But it's not a logical argument. Men and women go to different prisons.

Are you trying to reference the early release scheme that got brought in because we keep increasing jail sentences but don't build more prisons?

Violent criminals aren't eligible for that. I'm not sure if Connolly would be included in that group.
 
In this link, the handsome chap on the right has been convicted of distributing firearms to fellow criminals.

Strangely enough, he was arrested 15 years after being given a 20 year sentence for running a heroin dealing empire. ?

If we have limited prison spaces I would rather they go to people like this, instead of letting them out early so they can offend again.

She is of zero risk of reoffending and that is only likely to increase the more time she does. In prison she is a poster girl for "2-tier justice".
