Would anybody here, or anyone you know, take a short break to visit a construction site?

I am talking about BIG civil type projects with HUGE machinery.

I know a lot of people are interested in looking at big cranes and earth mover but would anyone pay to visit the sites where these are used??

Only interested to see if I can find a companion...... :)

Silly me, thought I might get some help with my idea's.

They make enough programmes about massive constructions sites and the machinery used I thought it might be nice to go out and look at them in person...........

Never mind I'll try elsewhere. :(

Daz, you should try this idea as a business venture, I mean they do it here sort of!!

these ships are known as sick buckets they just go round changing ship marker buoys, sometimes in the most atrocious weather, well the buoys are often in the nastiest places which is why there there in the first place.so a building site would be like disneyland in comparison.

Like that RP ... Been thinking Cape town to Tristan DC on a working boat.
As a bit of a matelot yourself, you been thereabouts?

funny thing empip, but I thought of you as I posted that, never been to Tristan da Cunha but my da went once, he said it was a hairy landing!! I had a school Friend who's family came from there when the mountain exploded, always complaining that the tatties didn't taste as good as they did back home. supply or working ships always take longer to get anywhere cos their keeping there fuel costs down, so its good value if you enjoy wallowing around on the murky brine at 6 knots but I prefer to get from a to b in time for tea.

The only thing true in the "Sun" is the date in the top right hand corner of page one

I've done voluntary work laying footpaths in Cambridgeshire on summer. Got to play about with mini-diggers, dumpers and rollers. I actually got my dumper/roller ticket there. Feckin' hard work for 2 weeks but bloody satisfying.

I hope that thought wasn't generated by reference to the 'sick bucket' ! :D :D

An ex colleague's in laws live there, he has sent the odd SH Ford Escort by sea.... Some hilarious tales there.
