I am putting in new light switches and power sockets into an existing building. I am told that there are now, new bldg regs regarding dimensions for the siting of such devices. Can someone please tell me what they are.
Many thanks in advance.

But if any of these new sockets or switches are additions to the installation and are in kitchens or bathrooms then there are new Building Regulations which affect how you do the work....

Sockets and switches should be between 450mm and 1200mm from finished floor level (FFL). This is given as one possible way to meet the requirements of disabled visiters/guests/home owners. However this is only for new builds and full renovations. If you are doing a full re-wire but not a renovation then you can site them at any reasonable height. To be honest the socket heights feel quite comfertable to use, though then can stand out a bit compared to sockets on the skirting board. BAS is talking about Part P of the building regulations.
