Tax & Spend Tories

I very much doubt it, most 'youngsters' want everything yesterday with no sweat or work involved.
Yeah, but you didn't think it was dramatically harder these days. Your judgement in this area is clearly a bit off.

It’s no harder than when I did it. Just the priorities of the under 35’s have changed. They’re barely out of nappies at that age.

A few [35-year-old friends] just now are leaving their parents’ nest. Many friends are getting married or having a baby for the first time. They aren’t switching occupations, because they have finally landed a ‘meaningful’ career – perhaps after a decade of hopscotching jobs in search of an identity. They’re doing the kinds of things our society used to expect from 25-year-olds.”

Old people have been whining about the youth of <date> since there have been young people.

I don’t think anybody whined about them in 1914 when many, many underage teenagers lied about their age to join up and fight in the war. Nowdays, the average 30 year old breaks out in a sweat when they get to level 2 on Call of duty!

From your link: "In Britain during the First World War it was often given to men out of uniform by women to shame them publicly into signing up".

That’s men, not teenage boys.
So now you're saying that 16 year olds should be buying their first houses because people volunteered for WW1?

I have to say, your logic is impeccable.

He's not saying that at all, you're in an argumentative mood so rather that debate, you're tearing the arse out of it by making stupid statements and trying to misrepresent what he's saying.
Hope this helps.

And saying that people volunteered for WW1 shows that young people now don't save enough adds what to the discussion? Seriously? :D

Well I guess slightly more than you have.

you know perfectly well that since you were young, the price of houses has gone up much faster than wages.

So they are much harder to buy.

You prefer to deny plain truth.

This country has turned into a nation of whingers

we e d up working for some of the younger generation tenants

Historic interest rates were around 10% when Mottie and myself bought our 1st properties, what are the rates now? 1%?
Also many seem to be basing their arguments on prices in London and the South East, you can pick up a 2 bed flat or house round this way for 120K ish, wages are about 90% of national average.
A lot of the 'snowflake' generation will be inheriting property from their 'wicked old parents', that should set them up nicely.

Harder to buy these days? really? why is demand outstripping supply?

No, you were saying "Old people have been whining about the youth of <date> since there have been young people". I said they didn’t whine about them when they volunteered to fight in WW1 especially when they lied about their age. The youth of yesteryear were a lot more mature than the current lot. FFS, my generation started work at 16 and the previous generation started work at 14 - I know my dad did - whereas quite a few of today’s lot are lucky to start work before they're 25 years old by the time they’ve done college then university, then a gap year (poor things) then a masters degree - before going on to work full time in McDonalds or Argos! Stop being a cock.

'Tis true. Crochety old people only give a chuff when the young go off to be slaughtered, and mottie is of the ilk that is in full support. Nice one grandad.
