And you were probably wrong then too, but it's very hard to prove. Every generation of old people whines about the youth.said they didn’t whine about them when they volunteered to fight in WW1 especially when they lied about their age

As opposed to to those middle agers who don’t give a chuff when the young go off to be slaughtered you mean?'Tis true. Crochety old people only give a chuff when the young go off to be slaughtered, and mottie is of the ilk that is in full support. Nice one grandad.
Do you really think people whined about under age teenagers going off to war?And you were probably wrong then too, but it's very hard to prove. Every generation of old people whines about the youth.
You are kidding, right?Do you really think people whined about under age teenagers going off to war?
I think they probably viewed everyone else who didn't as an example of the terrible level of moral decay that the country has fallen into. After all, Reginald volunteered at 16, how disgraceful that those 17 year olds hadn't.Do you really think people whined about under age teenagers going off to war?
From Hansard.Many slackers at work in various parts of the country could be added to the lighting line without in any way imperilling the output of firms which are at present engaged in a loyal endeavour to serve, by the honest labour of their workmen, their comrades at the front. But in dozens of cases, at my own firm's works, men who have no desire to fight as patriots are equally averse to doing their bit at the work in which they are now employed. Why not, then, in cases of this character compel owners even of starred works to get out, say, monthly, a list of the worst cases of those who are of military age and compel them to join the Army; because as a matter of fact, they are useless to the firm, to the country, and are a positive disgrace to themselves. I have been taking out the time for the last 28 weeks in the case of 20 men, and I find that they have averaged from one-and-two-thirds to four shifts per week. Many cases could be added to this, if necessary, showing clearly that to-day there are here, in the stress and trial through which we are all passing, men who will neither fight nor work. I appeal to you, Sir, to use your influence to alter this condition of things and to either make them work or fight.
What do you mean? Ok, if they whined, they whined in a good way and not a bad way.You are kidding, right?
probably
So, just your gut feeling then? Okay.I would be stunned
At least my gut has history behind it, yours just has sour grapes.So, just your gut feeling then? Okay.
…and brain has a lack of knowledge of the "Military age" your link alluded to.At least my gut…….
I am confused, are you complaining about just those aged 18-35, but consider those 15-18 during 1914 to be the sole exception to 'the moral decay of modern youth'?…and brain has a lack of knowledge of the "Military age" your link alluded to.
"Why not, then, in cases of this character compel owners even of starred works to get out, say, monthly, a list of the worst cases of those who are of military age and compel them to join the Army";
Quick, get back on to Google and check. We have been referring to underage teenagers who lied about their age so they could go to war. Your link has no relevance so let’s not pretend otherwise.
I agree we've wondered down a rabbit hole. But it's good to know you are part of a generation just as feckless as your children, mine, or any other generation except that of 1914.You’re taking this way off track now. Deflection tactics. I’m not playing anymore. Go play with yourself.
No, you were saying "Old people have been whining about the youth of <date> since there have been young people". I said they didn’t whine about them when they volunteered to fight in WW1 especially when they lied about their age. The youth of yesteryear were a lot more mature than the current lot. FFS, my generation started work at 16 and the previous generation started work at 14 - I know my dad did - whereas quite a few of today’s lot are lucky to start work before they're 25 years old by the time they’ve done college then university, then a gap year (poor things) then a masters degree - before going on to work full time in McDonalds or Argos! Stop being a cock.
off track
