Hi, I've recently self installed a Premier Elite 64-W.

I'm now looking at integrating it with Home Assistant (I've got no interest in using the Texecom mobile app, just HA)

From what I've read I think I can use SmartCom or ComIP for HA, and the SmartCom seems a lot cheaper. But what else am I missing, why is the ComIP so much more expensive?

Using the Wintex application over the network might also be quite handy, does the SmartCom support that? (in conjunction with using HA)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

not cut up the cable.

But smart com cable splits into two parts, a 4 core and 2 core.

The 4 core provides power and the smart com coms, the 2 wire the com ip coms.

You certainly need both to power the unit up.
But you can program the com ip module and not the smart com if it’s not in use.

Sorry, I'm still not sure I understand the difference?

the comp ip has one connection. This connects to a comport.

The smart com has two connections, the smart com part and the comip part.

Com ip you just plug it in
To one comport.

The smart com you would plug it into both comports but use just the com ip part.

You can’t use the smart com (Texecom app and HA without potentially running into problems from time to time).

But you can use the smart coms comip part for HA on its own, I don’t use HA but I have tested it.

There are few on here that have used it/ do use it they maybe lurking around so you may want to try posting Texecom and Home assistant title to see if they pop up.

Thanks for explaining further.

So the SmartCom has the exact same functionality (plus more) as the ComIP, but costs a lot less?

lol it’s not as straight forward as it’s the same.

You would need to ask John Gildert on The Texecom forum about how they work for a detailed accurate information.

But yes I have used the smart coms com ip for HA.

However I haven’t for any length of time without having Texecom connect turned off. As it’s likely to conflict.
