Buying a property from George Wimpey.

Six months after I bought it new, I discovered that the consumer unit and isolation switch I had been allocated was the wrong one, when they finally came round to have a look at it 4 weeks later they found six out of nine flats had been incorrectly wired, now I have had a tenant move out and the cooker hood extractor fan is U/S, I've had a look at it and the supply is dead, the fused spur for the cooker hood is nowhere to be seen so I now have to start taking the kitchen units apart in order to locate the fused spur, learn by my mistake, never buy from Wimpey Homes!!

Maybe the hood is fed from the kitchen light.

Maybe the tenant that ****ed off connected it in dodgy-like.

If you can prove the work is the responsibility of the housebuilder not your tenant, then they should put it right at no cost to yourself.

It should come off a fused spur, I'm going to firstly remove the hood and the housing then if its not there slide the built in oven out and see if it's behind that.

I have already wasted over an hour on the phone today, firstly to Wimpey who said I should contact Clarkson Evans the electrical company that did the install, the girl there said as it was an old site they had no records now, it was built in 2006 just before the collapse of the housing market, how many houses have they rewired for Wimpey in the last & years?

I thought the whole idea of having a fused spur was to enable a person to isolate the appliance before touching it!
