i carry more than £5000 of van stock!

christ....you must keep that lot well hidden from your tsm

ill be lucky if ive got 2k in my van now. i prefer to keep it virtually empty.

if anyone thinks BG customers would be better serviced by specialists in certain boiler floating around they are in a fantasy. the fact is if you work consistently in a certain area 95% of the time, you will be building up your own vanstock to suit that area anyway. the BG engineers running away from certain repairs are just lazy sods and it has little to do with training or knowledge.....simply their own lazy attitude to the job which in turn makes their patch a nightmare to work on the more they run.

if they stuck it out and did the job to a reasonable standard they wouldnt have half the problems they do. i dread going to a neighbouring patch to get involved in their nightmares.

.....engineers with a lifetime of experience under their belts etc. Plus the interest of the job is to come across new things and continuous learning

But when I've met BG engineers at the customers house they just don't have sufficient knowledge to work on the boiler and the evidence I see and hear about around here proves that.

Perhaps there's just a very high turnover in London and they're off before the experience is gained.

london is a different beast altogether for BG. their customers are a nightmare too. all in all the service in london is pretty poor from all reports.

Believe it or not I have some customers who have a service contract with BG but still use me to repair their boiler when I am available as they can't stand the BG service but still pay them just in case I can't attend.

I have heard ridiculous stuff like that here before...more money than sense comes to mind, usually in London  . Why would anyone do that when bg will do a same / next day fixed price repair for about 160 quid including part, labour and guarantee?

So are you a manufacturers engineer then gasguru if not why would you meet sufficient engineers in houses to come to that conclusion, just wondering why customers would have 2 gasmen in house at same time....

Corgiman you would have been more than welcome to Chaff boards and fans, Midas boards sensors etc. a couple of full set of boards for lynx, sprint rapide boards and various parts for other pile of shi#e boilers. Hated working on them when i had to no F ing way i was working on them for myself...

Ollsski no they didn`t go on ebay they went straight into the bin..

We had a good manager around our way when we split . we all kept entire tool kit ladders, roof ladders, kango, drills etc.. We even kept the key to the depot and used that for a year after it was meant to be shut .

Ahh "Welcome To The United Kingdom" ....... Don't make a scene, The doctor is a expert & should not be disagreed with, If you wear a tie/bowler hat/suit you are important, Whats a tax return?, Its Ok to go potholing, mountain climbing, hang gliding without the proper stuff, if you don't want to work they will pay you anyway, Policemen are incorruptible, Bus/Truck Drivers have a totally professional outlook on Logistics, Corgi men are Gods Whats a dentist ? Thou shalt buy a TV licence ....... These benefits/beliefs have unfortunately turned a goodly few people in to hollow drones....

Knock on Hank The Yanks door & ask for $300 PA for the right to park outside his own house (Respark) He would (Quite rightly IMO) blow your head off with a 12 gauge & carp on your grave

a good point well made.

almost all brits are vacuous wastes of space.

i flew home from crete today. i had the pleasure of killing 8 hours in gatwick from midnight until just after 8. i slept on a bench in the north terminal with around 20 other similar refugees. at around 5am four 18yo chavvy essex slags sat down in the middle of this sleeping congregation and proceeded to have the loudest conversation about hair and ****.

i quote part of this conversation. (do this bit in a slaggy south england ho stylee) " whisky is the best thing for toothache, when i was around ten we went to stay in ireland or scotland for a week with my grandad. it was like living in the 17th century for week. but my grandad sorted my toothache by making me drink whisky all night".

they were sitting right next to me so i farted very loudly. they didnt hang around much longer.

No they don't, they often fail to turn up at the appointed time, then when they do they don't have the parts, arrange a repeat visit and then don't turn up etc etc hence out of desperation I get called.

I used to work for several estate agents, invariably some landlords will have the boiler covered on contract. However I would still carry out the LGSR. Often I would find serious faults and liase/meet BG to resolve.
Several landlords have been in dispute over appalling service to which I have been asked to give a second opinion to.

They condemend my mates boilers as ID and shut it off, the salesman turn up a few hours later a flogged him a new boiler.

Why ?? ventilation not to the new regs.

Remember this guy is 84, and the boiler is in an outside boiler house.

Explain that one then MR BG.

After I and a BG guy created merry hell they refunded his money apart from a percentage of the deposit which is non-refundable even if they made a mistake.

is this aimed at me?

well done for taking them to task on this issue. they were clearly in the wrong. i hope the engineer involved was sacked. (no sarcasm)

id forgotten that a guy ive never met was 84 and the boiler was outside. ill check my extensive records next time. (sarcasm)
