The conflict did not begin in 1948. There had been a civil war continuing prior to that, between Jews and Arabs.

As far as I know , other Arab countries invaded Palestine to prevent the Israelis from ethnically cleansing Palestinians.

That’s a weak argument, NI nationalists would vote for unification even if it was against their financial interests in the way you describe. Brexhit is an example of voting with the heart rather than the brain.

That has always been the case, 'Jew hatred' has traditionally been associated with the far right.
One reason for the apparent conversion of right wing anti-Semitism to PhiloSemitism , could be because perceived anti-Semitism is a career killer in politics, also hatred of Muslims is also a traditional characteristic of the right wing mind set.
As Israel is killing Muslims in large numbers in Muslim countries, this could be an explanation for right wing support for Israel.
