Theresa May will attempt to relaunch her faltering premiership tomorrow with an extraordinary appeal for cross-party unity as she faces a new “reality” as a prime minister without a majority.

In an admission of her political weakness, she will pledge to be more open and conciliatory while calling on opponents to work together to shape a “better way forward” for Britain after Brexit.

She will also appeal to Labour and other parties to “come forward” with their own ideas for policy and to “contribute, not just criticise”.
