Hi all. is there an easily available universal thermostatic rad valve cap to cap valve after rad removal, or any suggestion on anything else that can be used.

depends on the valve

if you know the make you might get one at a plumbers merchant

btw they are called decorators caps

Some TRVs have a positive off, usually shown as 0. The * is the frost position. If * is the lowest setting, you can often insert a small coin into the head and screw it back on. Turn the stat to max before you remove the head, inset the coin, replace head and then turn down very slowly until you meet a resistance.
