Laminate kitchen floor is solid but looking tatty, wife wants tiles, I want a good quality vinyl, if I have to go down the tiling route is there any special adhesive that I can use, or just any flexible one for wooden floors, BTW the laminate is 20 yrs old glued joints and is kitchen quality, no movement at all, I know I should screw ply to the lam but it would leave to much of a step up into kitchen, and if laminate is removed old low density chipboard underneath will also have to go.

TIA Alan

Remove the laminate. Overlay the chipboard with 'no more ply' glued and screwed. Tile onto that with a decent quality powdered cement based flexible adhesive and grout.
