Hotel stars do not indicate quality or luxury or price. They indicate facilities provided. Such as a..
.. kitchen to knock up takeaway food to sell, a safe place to park your uber eats bike and a 24 hour police cordon in case the locals get the 'ump.

A five star hotel can be dirty and run down, with dripping taps and torn carpets
Cobblers. Unless you can show us some proof. Oh, sorry, I forgot. You are exempt from providing proof of your posts. Denso, Notch and Nosey says so.

A multi star hotel can be dirty and run down, with mice, dripping taps and torn carpets

That makes sense. You hear four star and you think luxury. But I imagine the ones used for asylum seekers are mainly very run down. Britannia hotels always seem to be hotels that have been neglected for many years. The one in the papers today has a very poor rating on TripAdvisor.

A recent review:

Even if the hotel paid me to stay, I wouldn't stay - avoid at all costs
Avoid - the room smells of decay and I couldn't breathe properly. When I walked into the room, the window was open , yet the room still smelt of a mix of mould, dust and decay. I could hardly breath, after being in the room for just 30 minutes and had to check out . I asked for a refund, though I booked through Expedia, this hotel is not fit for purpose. Premiere Inn much better.

How do you square the circle?
I spent £800 trying to secure residency in NZ, but I failed. They didn't need any more teachers at that time.
So, did I:
a. Pay people traffickers to get me into the country illegally
b. Count my blessings and crack on with my life

France is perfectly safe. My son is taking his family there in a week or so!

Presumably you were not a refugee fleeing for your life and seeking asylum.

…and expecting a taxi service from just over the midway point of the English channel, 4 star accommodation, 3 square meals a day, WiFi, pool, your room cleaned and bed made up every day, access to health services, use of kitchen for business use, a safe place to charge and park your electric delivery bike, 24 hour police presence, security guards, pocket money….

Calm down, that doesn't happen. Uber are employing illegal workers and you blame the hostel staff?

Give your head a shake.

So not remotely the same process.
It should be though. That's the point. I had to fill in countless forms, share my DBS, supply references and demonstrate that I could be an asset to the country... as opposed to a drain.

Yes, there should be more safe routes. At the moment there are none so they are forced to come by boat if they want to reach the UK.
