To the acid doubters: It doesn’t matter that it was only harmless milkshake, or that it can’t have been acid because acid would melt cardboard, or that there are more convincing acid-lookalike liquids; these are all missing the point by miles. The act was symbolic, it was political, and it was a threat.
Symbolic because it represented what some muslims have done to people they don’t like; political because it was done as a show of strength (look what we can get away with) and a threat because it was saying “if you don’t stop we will eventually throw acid in your face”.
