yesterday nottinghamshire police lost two dogs.
both locked in a car, outside a police station, the temperature outside was 29c, inside the car it was 52c.

this is a disgusting crime and the officer faces prosecution.

MAY HE ROT IN HELL

I agree, had a member of the public been so wreckless no doubt they'd be prosecuted. I myself have 2 dogs and would not be so stupid in this heat.

They should be sacked and serve time imo. Those poor dogs in 52 deg heat must have been in agony.

I've heard worse things, if it had happened in Korea they'd have ate them for supper.

and had it been children?

what then?

eat them?

the level of trust between animals and man is such that to betray that, is a sin.

I heard about it, but not enough to know what happened.

I understand the officer(s) have not been suspended, but it has been passed to Police Complaints.

I thought it strange that a dog handler left his animal like that

i belong to a german shepard forum and they are totally up in arms over this to the point of directly sending emails to the cheif constable of that force and to the media, and jeremy vine radio show etc etc,now watch what the rspca do,wether they prosecute the officer or give him a slapped wrist.

as already mentioned if it had been a general bod they wouldve been arrested and no doubt locked up for a few hours and then charged, and then the media would of reported it and there lives made hell.

from what i have heard from others even some of the dog handlers from other forces hope he has the book thrown at him.

he is an absolute discrace, poor poor dogs:cry:
now i dont think everybody will share the same thoughts but youve got to be rather hartless if you think those dogs died quickly and without suffering any pain.

Should that not be "up in paws?" Joking aside, it's a terrible thing. Begs the question why nobody at the police station noticed them in the car. Probably too eager to get to the pub in the hot weather.

Its not an actual station, it the headquarters.
burnt stump.

the officer is going to be up for prosecution.

how can any dog owner let alone a proffesional, betray his trust to an animal in this way?

I still don't understand how he let it happen.

Did he fall asleep or something?

That figures. Only the police could lock something up then lose it...

Should be prosecuted and sacked!

If he had responded to a member of the public doing this what would his reaction have been like?
Probably fuming.

As much as I dislike dogs both in theory and in practice and would rather their existence was terminated, this action and lack of care and the subsequent cruelty through neglect indicates that the officer(s) concerned are completely bereft of any responsibility. Why he, or they, are still employed, yet alone unprosecuted, is a complete sham.

It wasn't, that was my point. You stated that the officer concerned faces prosecution which is fair enough. The "MAY HE ROT IN HELL" comment was a bit over the top.
