Here is an old wood support that is being attacked by the weather and wood eating bugs! Can anyone suggest the best way to treat this ... I can not replace it just yet but I want to stem the flow of damage. It is partially covered but is open to elements.

Apply woodworm treatment , overclad with ply.?

Wire brush to remove punky wood, then treat with wood hardener. Will stop rot in its' tracks and if there are borers still active might make life awkward for them (as they can't chew the plastic that the surface layer of timber is effectively converted into)
