Twist or not ?

Hi all, should you twist the conductors together before inserting them into the electrical socket terminals ? I've been told yes and no, which is correct.

The way I do it I bend it U-shape hook and when screw in the terminals it can't come out,don't know what is the correct way.

I am sorry i have to slightly disagree, If you have two cables going in then put them in strait, if it is one then as masona said bend it into a u sort of shape.

It used to be common to twist them but this can cause them to break
