Hi All

I am currently looking at building a single story extension at the rear of my property.

On the line where i would ideally like to tie in one of the walls, there is an external chimney. I cant go past this line as there is a doorway we want to keep, so my only alternative would be to make the extension narrower.

Is there any reason I would not be able to tie into an external chimney as opposed to the normal cavity wall?

Cheers

Structurely, using the chimney would be OK (except for the flue). One face of the stack now is still outside, but round the corner the brickwork becomes something else, inner wall? So some form of dampness control might be needed which would make the flue unuseable. . .All depends on the quality of the brickwork and damp.
