U Beam on a concrete lintel

Hi

Fitting a couple of U beams tomorrow, can anyone tell me if I should put a bed of mortar between the Beam & lintel, or does the U beam just sit straight on to the beam?

Sorry meant to say "or does the u beam sit straight onto the lintel!!

Sit straight on lintel if levels of the two come out correct, otherwise put it on slate or steel shims
